Sausage rolls have always been a favourite party favour from the simple children's birthday party to speciality appetisers at more sophisticated events.
I had some sausage mince and thought I would throw some ingredients together to make these delicious sausage rolls. I made a few different variations too. So if you feel game give them a try, they are fairly simple to make and a great recipe for the kids to make.
Ingredients:
1 kilo sausage mince
1 onion finely chopped
1/2 cup tomato sauce
1 egg
1 cup bread crumbs
Salt & Pepper to taste
olive oil
8 sheets puff pastry
Pre heat oven to 180 degrees Celsius
Place mince, onion, sauce, egg, bread crumbs, salt & Pepper in a bowl and mix together.
Cut puff pastry sheet in half and place mixture down the middle, leaving enough room to roll pastry over mince to press together.
Use egg white to help pastry stick together.
With a brush, coat a small amount of olive oil on top of pastry (sausage roll).
Variant:
With half of the mince mixture I added two teaspoons of minced chilly and mixed well. After placing the mixture on the pastry I added grated tasty cheese on top and then rolled the pastry. These were really yummy!
Also I made some open sausage rolls by rolling the pastry up and connecting the ends, I think they look really good. They were made with the chilly mixture and the cheese on top. Take a look at the picture and you can tell me what you think.
