Red Wine Venison Steak Stew

Need more sleep? Just one more reason to drink red wine!

New research shows that red wine, especially Cabernet Sauvignon, Chianti, and Merlot, contains melatonin. Melatonin regulates the body clock, so drinking a glass of red wine before bed may help you sleep. Melatonin is also an anti-oxidant, which means it also has anti-aging and cancer preventative properties.

As I have a large family a lot of my recipes are made in proportion to the amount of people I have to feed. As you will notice the amount of steaks I needed for this meal. I really think I could run a restaurant ;-) So remember if you are cooking for less people just halve the recipe or use less pieces of meat and you will have more sauce.
-----------------------------------------------------

20 Venison medallions
Olive oil
6 large potatoes
2 cups chicken stock
2 cups red wine
1 can tomato pieces
2 tablespoons curry powder
Salt & Pepper

1. Sear venison medallions with olive oil on high heat on both sides and remove. About 1- 2 minutes each side.

2. When all pieces are cooked return to pot and add red wine.

3.While bringing to the boil add stock, tomato, curry powder, salt & pepper. Simmer for 1 1/2 hours.

4. Add chopped potatoes and simmer until potatoes are soft but firm.

I served this with a side of rice and used the sauce on the rice.
You can also add carrots to this dish if you like.
