A Thrifty Solution to Killer Weeds

Every now and again the garden or yard gets a little out of control and needs some extra tidying up. I don't have much of a garden, it consists of box hedges around the edge of the house and that's it.

It must be so easy to maintain, you say!

Well yes and no, it's the weeds that get me all the time. They suddenly appear out of nowhere and they seem so small when they first appear but the next time you look around they are strangling the plants and you feel like you are being invaded.

Time to put a stop to the invasion. I have a miracle cure that won't cost you the earth. (No pun intended)

So off you go to the shops and buy yourself a container of Yates ZeroAqua Weedkiller (Glyphosate 360 killer), some liquid dish-washing detergent & a Hozelock garden sprayer.

See Picture.

Mix together:

15ml Glyphosate
50ml dish washing detergent
1Litre water

Then place mixture into the garden sprayer and take a walk around your garden spraying all those nasty weeds. What you will find by using this method is you will use less weed-killer and because of the dish-washing liquid it will stick to the weeds and you will have less run off. It always helps if you try to spray weeds when you know there is no forecast of rain that day.

Then sit back and watch as your weeds die, it will take about a week and then you should be able to easily rake them out.

Good luck and here's to having a beautiful garden with no weeds and less hard work!

If you have any thrifty gardening ideas please feel free to share them here.
